The Outlook Residence occupies a large site on the top of a Brisbane hill, with city and mountain views. JCA's design reflects a brief focusing on fun, entertaining and family interactions, whilst maximising the changing needs of a growing family, and balancing this with the needs for controlled privacy for teenagers. With the primary city views from the street side, the layout has been created around a large green open space to the front with the majority of rooms arranged around this to create a socially interactive home, allowing these rooms to experience the views. Simple modernist architecture has been employed to pay homage to the previous home occupying the site.
