Project overview

The Anglican Church of Melanesia is to become the official church headquarters in Honiara, Solomon Islands. The site occupies a prominent location in the city, making it a visible landmark address for the church within their larger campus. The proposed building sits in front of a welcoming public courtyard space, providing respite from the busy main road and the harsh tropical climate, supporting the church ethos of giving back to the community. The layout is arranged around a second private central courtyard space to maximise breeze, light, and views, whilst exhibiting an appropriate acknowledgement of traditional and ecclesiastical building form, construction techniques and materials, encouraging engagement of local business in the construction of the project.
